Myth vs Reality - CARDIO.

Wednesdays and cardio: learn the myths and realities:

❌ Myth: "Cardio is the only way to lose weight."
✅ Reality: While cardio can help burn calories, weight loss requires a calorie deficit that can come not only from cardio but also from consuming fewer calories in your diet. Additionally, strength training is important as it helps build muscle and boost metabolism.

❌ Myth: "Long-duration cardio is the best way to burn fat."
✅ Reality: It is true that long-duration cardio at moderate intensity is the zone where you primarily use fat as fuel; however, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an effective way to burn calories and therefore fat in less time — provided it’s done with genuine intensity! This can be quite demanding for many, so the choice is yours.

❌ Myth: "Cardio is boring."
✅ Reality: Cardio can be boring only if you’ve chosen the wrong activity! There are many ways to do cardio, such as dancing, hiking, cycling, kayaking, skating, using the elliptical, spinning classes, Zumba, and more. Pick the activity you enjoy most and do it regularly.

❌ Myth: "Cardio makes you lose muscle."
✅ Reality: While cardio, especially running, can negatively affect muscle growth if done excessively—as with marathon runners—doing lower-impact cardio like cycling, swimming, or walking at a moderate intensity and frequency, combined with strength training, will allow you to maintain your muscle mass.

In conclusion, cardio is a good way to burn calories and improve cardiovascular health, and it can definitely be enjoyable; but it’s essential to maintain a balanced diet and combine cardio with strength exercises.
